Munich TowerClock Tower in Munich
Munich: Germany's city of art and culture. This is no "oompah" town. Here you'll find an elegant and tasteful city with sophisticated clubs & restaurants, theaters, and the finest concert halls. The seat of the Wittelsbach family, rulers of Bavaria until 1918, Munich has long been a beacon for the elite. The imposing Wittelsbach palace, the Residenz, dominates the top of central Max-Joseph-Platz. Most of the other sights are walkable in the compact downtown area. In the central old town, Altstadt, the domed towers of the 15th-century Frauenkirche loom over the low-rise city, much of which was rebuilt after the war. Marienplatz is the heart of the old city, with its neo-Gothic town hall.

Salzburg, Germany

Salzburg, the "heart of the heart of Europe." This baroque city on the banks of the Salzach River is the home of Mozart and, yes, The Sound of Music. Salzburg, a city of 17th and 18th century homes, is internationally known for its architectural grandeur.

The Old Town lies on the left bank of the river, where a monastery and bishopric were founded in 700 AD. From that simple start, Salzburg grew in power and prestige, becoming an archbishopric see in 798. At the height of the prince-archbishop's power, the city was known as the "German Rome." On medieval maps, the little province of Land Salzburg was titled "church lands." Long a part of the Holy Roman Empire, Land Salzburg was joined to Austria in 1816 following the Congress of Vienna.

The Golden Hirsch Hotel Salzburg

Güldener Hirsch

In the baroque centre of Salzburg, in the famous Getreidegasse stands the HOTEL GOLDENER HIRSCH, rich in its tradition of luxury and combining the romantic magic of the 15th century with the luxury of a modern five-star hotel. Every guest is a "friend of the house" and is greeted as such with cordial warmth and is served with pleasure.

Panoramic veiw of Salzburg

The Goldener Hirsch first opened it's doors in 1407. Since 1564 the name "Güldener Hirsch" appears. The façades of the "old building" and the adjoining building, which was acquired in the Seventies, have been kept simple and unobtrusive. Understatement to the outside, luxury only behind the bulky old door.
